God’s Wonderful Promises – Fear
God’s Wonderful Promises – Fear
God’s promises for fear in the Bible assure believers that they do not have to live in fear. Because God is with them to provide protection, peace, and courage. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly reminds His people to trust in His power, presence, and faithfulness in the face of anxiety, danger, and uncertainty.
In the Old Testament, God frequently speaks to His people, urging them not to be afraid. For example, in Isaiah 41:10, He promises, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This assurance emphasizes God’s support and His ability to provide strength in times of fear.
In the New Testament, Jesus echoes these promises. In Matthew 28:20, He assures His disciples, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Additionally, in John 14:27, Jesus offers peace as an antidote to fear, saying, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
The Bible teaches that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and believers are encouraged to rely on God’s love and presence to overcome fear. Ultimately, God’s promises for fear remind believers that, regardless of circumstances, they can trust in His constant care and provision.
God’s Wonderful Promises – Fear
In Part 1 of God’s Wonderful Promises we studied God’s perfect faithfulness. And how God’s promises are actually guarantees because of His perfect faithfulness.
In Part 2 we studied God’s wonderful promises for the gift of eternal life. And in Part 3 we studied God’s wonderful promises for forgiveness.
Now we will continue to study God’s word and find many of God’s wonderful promises about fear. There are many Bible verses and promises about fear. Fear can paralyze a believer’s faith and inhibit your fellowship with God. And fear can prevent you from faithfully obeying and following God’s perfect will for your life.
God’s Wonderful Promises – Fear
Many of God’s promises have certain conditions in order for Him to fulfill them. Many are “if you do this, then…”. Of the great number of God’s promises about fear, some of them have such conditions.
The first condition you will see in the first 2 of the following verses is faith. You have to have faith in God in order to counter the fear you will have some times in your life. Faith overcomes fear.
Mark 4:40 – “He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith ?”
Proverbs 29:25 – “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. “
If you are struggling with faith, run to Jesus. Ask Him to help you with your lack of faith and unbelief. Jesus will help you.
Mark 9:24 – “”I believe; help my unbelief !”
Another Condition To Receive God’s Promises About Fear
Proverbs 1:33 – ” but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”
There is another condition you need to meet in order to receive God’s promises about fear. You need to listen to God and His Word. First, you need to be in God’s word regularly in order to hear Him. God speaks to His people primarily through His word. Not spending regular time in God’s word is the same as ignoring God.
The word “listen” in Proverbs 1:33 (and in other verses) is not the same as the word hear. The Biblical word for listen means to hear God speak, with the intent of your heart to do whatever God says. Even before you hear God speak. Listening to God is hearing and then doing or obeying. Those who truly listen to God and obey are the ones who will live in safety and without fear.

Proverbs 3:25-26 “Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
