Predestination In The Bible
Predestination In The Bible – Who Is Predestined or Selected to Be Saved ?
What is Predestination ? Is Predestination in the Bible and does God really select or choose who will be saved ? There are many verses on Predestination in the Bible and on Salvation. At first glance many of these Bible verses seem to contradict one another.
1 Timothy 2:4 tells us that God wants all men to be saved. Other verses about Predestination in the Bible seem to suggest that God does select or predestines people for salvation. Still other verses call believers God’s elect, which suggests they are chosen for salvation.
Predestination in the Bible refers to the concept that God has preordained certain individuals for salvation and eternal life. This idea is rooted in passages like Ephesians 1:4-5, which states that God chose believers in Christ before the foundation of the world. The “elect” are those chosen by God to receive His grace and salvation, emphasizing His sovereignty and divine purpose. This doctrine raises discussions about free will, grace, and God’s foreknowledge, highlighting the mystery of how human choice interacts with divine election.
Predestination In The Bible
2 Part Bible Study on Predestination In The Bible & Salvation of The Elect
What is the truth about Predestination in the Bible and about Salvation ? In this first part of our 2 part series of articles we will dive into God’s word to discover the meaning of Predestination in the Bible. The doctrine of Predestination is definitely in the Bible.
The 2nd part of these Bible study articles will look at the question of who is predestined for salvation. Also we will look into the question of who are God’s elect. When you look at both of these subjects and articles together, you will get a much clearer idea of Predestination, Salvation, and the Elect.
Predestination In The Bible
Ephesians 1:5-6
In love 5 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
Ephesians 1:5 says that God predestined us to salvation and adoption as His sons or children through Jesus. Does this mean God’s will was to choose or predetermine who would be saved and not saved ? The definition of the Greek word used for “predestined” means: To define or determine beforehand. Or to plan from the beginning (of time)
Predestination in the Bible definitely exists. God has determined or planned long ago to offer the gift of salvation to mankind. The real question is who is the us in Ephesians 1:5 when it says “In love God predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ ?
Other Bible Verses About Predestination
Ephesians 1:11 “also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will.”
Acts 13:48 “When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.”
Romans 8:30 “And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. “
1 Thessalonians 5:9 “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
These verses also clearly show the plan of God and the predestination for salvation.

Does God Offer Salvation to A Few Chosen People Or To All ?
God has determined or planned long ago to offer the gift of salvation to mankind. The real question is who does God offer salvation to ? Are some chosen people predestined for salvation and eternal life, or are all people offered the gift ? Who is the us in Ephesians 1:5 – “In love God predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ ?
We will look to answer these questions in Part 2 of this series of Bible study articles on Predestination and The Elect.
