What Does Revelation Say About the End Times?
Revelation teaches that history is moving toward a definite conclusion.
The end of the age will involve:
- The return of Jesus Christ
- The defeat of evil
- God's judgment
- The final defeat of Satan
- Resurrection and judgment
- The end of death
- A new heaven and new earth
- God's eternal dwelling with His people
The ultimate destination of God's people is not an eternity of disembodied existence.
Revelation points toward a renewed creation where God dwells with His people forever.
Does Revelation Tell Us When Jesus Will Return?
No.
Jesus explicitly warned His followers that they would not know the exact day or hour of His return.
Revelation gives prophetic signs and describes events surrounding the end of the age, but Christians should be cautious about setting dates or claiming certainty where Scripture does not provide it.
The appropriate response to biblical prophecy is not date-setting.
It is faithfulness, watchfulness, repentance, and hope in Jesus Christ.
How Should Christians Respond to Revelation?
Revelation was not given merely to satisfy our curiosity about the future.
It calls people to faithfulness.
Jesus repeatedly tells the churches to overcome, remain faithful, repent, endure persecution, and hold firmly to the truth.
Revelation therefore has a message for Christians today:
Stay faithful to Jesus.
Reject compromise with evil.
Don't worship the things of this world.
Stand firmly on God's Word.
Be prepared for Christ's return.
Trust God even when the world appears to be falling apart.
Remember that Jesus ultimately wins.
