God’s spiritual goals for you are centered around personal growth and alignment with His will and purpose. He desires for you to develop a deep relationship with Him, growing in love, faith, and wisdom.
God’s spiritual goals for you include cultivating qualities like compassion, kindness, and humility. As well as living a life of total devotion to Him, and integrity and service to others. Ultimately God’s spiritual goals for you is to reflect His love and truth. Embracing a life of purpose, joy, and fulfillment, while striving to become the person He created you to be.
God’s Spiritual Goals For You
God has spiritual goals for you and your life. More than anything God wants close fellowship with you, and for you to enjoy intimacy with God.
God also want you to join Him in His kingdom work, of reaching lost people and helping others to grow.
Another of God’s spiritual goals is to make you the very best you can be. Which is to be like Jesus. A person of high character, and of increasing glory and honor.
In Part 1 of God’s Spiritual Goals For You we will look at the first of God’s spiritual goals and desires for you.
God’s Spiritual Goals For You
God’s Spiritual Goals # 1 – Intimate Fellowship With God
What do you think of when you hear the words “God’s call”. Most people think about when God calls someone to be a pastor. Or to be a missionary like us. Or when God calls someone to full time ministry.
Others think of when God calls you to do something in the church, or to a ministry. These are all things God calls people to do. But it is not God’s main call for Christians.
God’s main call for His children comes from a strong desire He has in His heart. God has a strong love and desire for you to have close and intimate fellowship with Him. This is His main call for you.
I Corinthians 1:9 – “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our LORD.”
God Wants To Be Your First Love, Treasure, And Passion
In order to have close intimate fellowship with God, you need to have a heart for God. A heart where God is your First Love. When you love God more than yourself, any other person, and everything else in the world. This is not natural for people to love God like this.
This comes when you allow God to touch and transform your heart. And when Jesus places His heart into you. And when Jesus places His love & devotion for God into you.
Matthew 6:21 – “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
God’s Spiritual Goals For You
God also wants you to have the right priorities in your life. Priorities that match up with His. Matthew 6:33
Matthew 6:33 – ” But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.”
Proverbs 21:21 – “One who pursues righteousness and loyalty. Finds life, righteousness, and honor.”
You need to put your fellowship with God (“His righteousness”) in first place in your life. And put God’s kingdom work & mission in first place also. God’s kingdom work & mission of reaching lost people with the Gospel. And helping others to grow & making disciples.
Is God Your First Love, Treasure, And Passion ?
Many people, if they were being completely honest, would have to say no to this question. Many people go to church. Many people serve in the church. Many people give to the church or to other ministries.
But there are fewer and fewer people who are truly loving God as their First Love. And many people have other “treasures” or “idols” in their lives. They love God, but other things (career, material things, influence, power…) or other people have become their first love. And they treasure other things more. These idols in their lives have become the most important things in their lives.
And there is a real lack of passion and hunger for God in many Christians today. Revival and spiritual awakening are greatly needed in these days.
Revelation 2:2-4 – “I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people. And you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them to be false. And you have perseverance and have endured on account of My name, and have not become weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
In Parts 2 and 3 we will continue to look at God’s Spiritual Goals for you. And we will study some of the methods and tools that God uses to transform His people. And to bring His people to become people that truly love God as their First Love, Treasure, and Passion.
