The Hand Of The Lord – Part 1

The Hand of The Lord Is Everything

The “Hand of the Lord” is a biblical and theological concept often used to symbolize God’s power, authority, and intervention in the world. It is frequently depicted in scripture as God guiding, protecting, empowering, or even punishing or disciplining.

In the Old Testament, the phrase “the hand of the Lord” is used to describe God’s active involvement in shaping history. Such as delivering Israel from Egypt or empowering leaders like Moses and David. In a more spiritual sense, it represents God’s presence in your life. Offering strength, comfort, wisdom, guidance, power… The “Hand of the Lord” conveys both divine sovereignty and intimate care.

In this 3 part series we will discover what the keys are to have a powerful, victorious, and fruitful life and ministry. Many people would say that education is most important, or training. Others would say experience is the most important.

When you study the lives of fruitful and powerful people in the Bible you will see certain key things. You will also see these things in the lives of ordinary modern day people that God has used in mighty ways.

The hand of the Lord is everything. The hand of the Lord in the Bible represents God’s presence. And His power and glory. And His resources. What are the keys to having the Lord’s hand on your life and ministry ?

The Hand Of The Lord

Acts 11:21 – “The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.”

The early church in the book of Acts saw God do great and amazing things. Many people were reached for Christ, and the church grew quickly. And many faithful and fruitful disciples were taught and made.

What was the key to their victories and success ? Acts 11:21 shows the one thing that is absolutely vital to experiencing spiritual victories and to being fruitful in ministry. The hand of the Lord.

The hand of the Lord represents God’s presence, and glory and power. And the hand of the Lord represents His blessings and His favor. And God’s authority over the enemy.

Why was the hand of the Lord with them ? We will dive into to Acts chapters 2 and 8 to you find the answer.

The Keys to Having The Lord’s Hand Upon You

Acts 2:42-43 says “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.”

At first glance it seems that Bible study (“apostles’ teaching”), fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer are the keys. However, there are many many churches and church attenders that do not have the Lord’s hand on them and are dead spiritually. Even though they have some form of Bible studies, prayer meetings, fellowship opportunities, and meals together.

All of these things are important in the life of a follower of Jesus. But they can be used as a “spiritual checklist” of the religious things a good Christian should do. As with all things, the heart matters most. It is not only about what you do, it is about why you do the things you do. And Who you do them for.

The Hand Of The Lord

The 1st Key To Having The Lord’s Hand On Your Life & Ministry

Let’s look back at Acts 2:42. It starts with “They devoted themselves…”. The original Greek word for “devoted themselves” means literally in English “they latched on and refused to let go.” It is not a religious checklist of things to do that they latched on to and refused to let go. They fully committed themselves to Jesus. That is the 1st key to having the Lord’s hand on you. Complete surrender to your Lord Jesus Christ, and making a full commitment to love & follow & obey Him. No matter the cost.

All of the original apostles in the church were fully committed to Jesus and the things He commanded them to do. And they were willing to sacrifice a great deal, and even die for Jesus. And they all did, except the apostle John. He was tortured and then abolished to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation.

In Part 2 of our 3 part series, we will look at the other key thing you have to have in order to have the Lord’s hand upon you.
